We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing exceptional support to both patients and healthcare professionals. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, proficiency in electronic medical records, and experience with multi-line phone systems.

Duties:

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner at the front desk.
  • Manage incoming calls using multi-line phone systems, directing calls appropriately and addressing inquiries.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain an organized calendar for healthcare providers.
  • Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details, ensuring accuracy in electronic medical records.
  • Assist with the preparation of patient charts and documentation prior to appointments.
  • Process patient payments and manage billing inquiries as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the office environment, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Collaborate with other staff to support patient care when required
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and managing correspondence.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in an optometric, medical or dental office setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Word, and Excel software is necessary
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology to facilitate communication within the healthcare team.
  • Experience as a dental receptionist or in similar roles will be beneficial.
  • Proven administrative experience with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
