EXPERIENCE: 2+ years as an OD Some optometrists got into this profession to take care of people, not to hit a daily patient count. If that sounds like you, we would love to meet you. Visionology is an independent, locally owned primary eye care clinic founded by Dr. Nancy Friessen, OD. Our exams are thorough by design: every patient’s eye health receives careful attention, and we take the time to explain what we find so patients leave understanding their eyes. We are a young, growing practice with a loyal patient base, and we are looking for an associate optometrist who wants to help build a practice, not just work in one: someone ready to come in early, put down roots and grow with us, with a path to partnership for the right fit.

WHY VISIONOLOGY

• Time to do the exam right. This is not a large corporate clinic. There are no volume targets and no pressure to rush. Comprehensive, patient-centred assessments and real patient education are the standard here, not the upgrade.
• Imaging in every exam. Optos ultra-widefield retinal imaging and a Topcon Maestro2 OCT are part of our comprehensive exam at no extra cost to patients, so recommending imaging is a clinical decision, not a sales conversation.
• Eyewear you can stand behind. Our frame gallery is a curated boutique collection of handmade frames. We select each line for its craftsmanship, the ethics behind its production and where it is made. We are not trying to compete with online retailers or be the cheapest option. You will never be asked to recommend something you don’t believe in.

WHO YOU ARE

• Doctor of Optometry (OD), registered or eligible for registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC, with therapeutic qualification.
• At least two years of clinical experience as an optometrist.
• Confident making independent clinical decisions, and genuinely happy to talk cases through and collaborate with a colleague.
• You believe comprehensive assessment and quality patient education are the job, not extras.
• You care about the quality of what patients walk out wearing, and you are comfortable talking with patients about frame and lens quality.
• Flexible and team-oriented. In a small, tight-knit team, everyone pitches in and supports one another.
• You want more than a job. You are excited to help build the practice alongside us, bringing ideas, taking ownership and caring about where Visionology goes next.
