Summary:
About the Opportunity Are you an optometrist looking to leverage your clinical expertise and desire to improve eye care equity from the comfort of your own home? We are a Canadian-owned remote optometry group that operates with the heart of a private practice using a BC College (CHCPBC)-vetted system to deliver comprehensive eye care. Unlike high-volume corporate environments, we prioritize the doctor-patient relationship and are committed to bringing high-quality eye care to underserved communities across Canada.
What You’ll Do As an Associate Optometrist, you will provide eye care from your home or mobile office. We provide a fully trained on-site team to perform pretesting, acting as your "hands" in the exam room so you can focus on what you do best:
* Being a Doctor: Reclaim your time for what matters most. By delegating manual pre-testing measurements, you can dedicate your expertise to diagnostic analysis, treatment planning, and patient communication.
* Real-Time Medical Consultation: Utilize our integrated telemedicine platform to review diagnostics in real-time. Our system provides seamless access to OCT, wide-field retinal photography, automated visual fields, and live HD video feeds, ensuring you have the ability to exceed the gold standard of a comprehensive eye exam.
* Innovation & Research: For those interested in the evolution of the profession, we offer the unique opportunity to participate in protocol development. Through our established partnerships, you can engage in collaborative research projects with the University of Waterloo and other leading optometry schools.
Who You Are
* Licensed Optometrist: Progress towards obtaining a BC Optometry License is required.
* An Educator at Heart: Our philosophy is "Education-Minded Care." We provide our doctors with extended exam times specifically to allow for a "show, don't just tell" approach—sharing imaging and data with patients so they are active, informed participants in their ocular health.
* Tech-Agile & Forward-Thinking: You are inspired by the evolution of medical technology and are comfortable navigating new software.
* Community-Minded: We focus on reaching underserved areas; interest in working with First Nations communities is considered an asset.
* New Grads & Balance-Seekers: We value fresh perspectives and offer the mentorship needed for recent graduates to thrive. This role is also a perfect fit for family-oriented practitioners looking to fill their schedule with meaningful work that offers location flexibility. Position Details & Benefits
* Job Type: Full-time or Part-time (Remote). * Pay: From $600 per day.
* Flexible Scheduling: 4-hour to 8-hour shifts designed to support a work-life balance.
* The Culture: Benefit from the autonomy of an independent practice with the back-end support of an innovative, and entrepreneurial Canadian team. How to Apply We are looking for clinicians who are as excited about the future of optometry as we are.
To apply, please submit the following to support@remoteoptometry.ca:
1. Your CV/Resume highlighting your clinical experience. Experience working with rural or underserved populations is a plus.
2. A brief cover letter (or a short introductory video!) telling us why you’re interested in the "Education-Minded Care" approach and how remote practice fits into your career goals.
3. Availability: Your preferred number of shifts per week/month.
4. Professional References: Please include contact information for 2–3 references (at least one clinical reference) who can speak to your patient communication style and clinical integrity. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Details of this post are subject to change.
